To the Editor: When I see or hear the words ''life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,'' the face that comes most readily to mind is that of Fred Childress. So it was shocking, to say the least, when Dave Drum came up to me at Panera on Monday morning to ask if I'd heard the sad news of Fred's death.

Bulgaria Among Unhappiest Nations in the World - Gallup Poll
Bulgaria ranks 137 out of 155 countries in a recent Gallup poll, which identified the happiest countries in the world. The top five countries, which are some of the richest in the world, are all Scandinavian while the bottom 20 are all African except four; Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Haiti and Cambodia.
